Judge Curt Werren
Judge Curt Werren grew up in Canton and graduated from McKinley High School. He came back to Canton after completing law school at The Ohio State University and practiced law with Day Ketterer Ltd., Stark County’s oldest law firm.

After twenty years with Day Ketterer, Judge Werren transitioned to part-time practice in order to become Executive Director of the Stark County Regional Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Prior to joining the Canton Municipal Court, Judge Werren was a Judge of the Stark County Court of Common Pleas. He has served as Presiding Judge in both Courts. Judge Werren is a member of the Ohio Judicial Conference; Association of Municipal/County Judges and served on the Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Case Management.

Judge Werren has been active in the community. He is on the Board of the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum, and the SAM Center serving area military. Among notable prior activities, Judge Werren served with the Stark County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, has been President of the Rotary Club of Canton, and on the steering committee of the Stark County Safety Council. He also co-chaired the campaign to develop the Community Campus at Goodwill.

In addition to his regular docket, Judge Werren founded and presides over the Recovery Court, a drug court certified by the Supreme Court of Ohio.

Judge Werren was awarded the 2017 HOPE Award for his efforts with the Court’s specialized dockets.

Judge Werren is a life-long Stark County resident who is married to Stephanie, Vice President of Leadership Stark County and a Member of North Canton City Council. They raised triplets. Hannah and Grace graduated from the United States Naval Academy and Jack from The Ohio State University. Jack now lives and works in Chicago and Hannah in Los Angeles. Grace is a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
